The Beautiful Game: Latin American Soccer Films
at Vancity Theatre Vancouver - June 11 to July 7 2014
The Beautiful Game is an unironic nickname for the swiftly flowing soccer played, followed, and very much loved in Latin America, and especially in Brazil. Vancity Theatre will celebrate the original football in June and July with a series of movies spanning different genres and approaches to the subject in soccer's unique relationship with Latin America. Through documentaries, biopics, and dramas look at the sport in its social and political contexts, and its still-growing influence of the game in the world. This series is presented by the Consulate General of Brazil in Vancouver in partnership with the Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre.
