The Cultural Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Iberoamerican Images and Metro Cinema at the Garneau are proud to present “Cine Chile – Alberta Series, A Festival of Contemporary Chilean Cinema in Canada”.
Cine Chile – Alberta Series is the continuation of previous efforts in 2006, 2008 and 2012 made by members of the community in Vancouver to showcase in Canada some of the most relevant films from one the most prolific film industries in Latin America.
Cine Chile – Alberta Series will present 3 of the newest Chilean films and will open in Edmonton on January 17th screening “Salt” the first western ever filmed in Latin America, followed by a special Gala on January 19th screening “Violeta went to heaven” based on the life and legacy of this world famous Chilean folk icon and the series close January 20th screening “The year of the tiger” a feature film located in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake and tsunami that devastated the Chilean south. Metro Cinema at the Garneau will be home to this series.
